Rotten Sound - “The Effects” @ MySpace
Taken from the forthcoming blast Cycles, due early 2008. Rotten Sound’s grinding isn’t that sharp anymore, but it’s definitely more organic and breathing than it was on Exit.
Mutagen - “Stabbed Through The Face” mp3
There’s not much I know about Mutagen, except they’re propably from the same town I live in and I know one of the members through a friend. I appreciate their blend of death metal: enough brutality, enough melody and definitely low enough vocals. Also the Cannibal Corpse groove they have is nice. More of their demo tracks @ Mikseri.
Casket - newer demo downloadable @ MySpace, older demo @ Mikseri
Young Finnish Death Metal. Not quite as old school as they claim, but still firmly rooted to the rotten soil and definitely no gimmicks.

Doveman - “…. & Sunrise Medley” mp3
from the Doveman’s new album With My Left Arm I Raise The Dead.
Wednesday, September 5, 2007
Few months back I posted about Armour - the new Finnish heavy metal sensation, so to say. Their demo have now sold out, but it’ll be re-released soon (also in China, which is definitely cool).
All Armour studio tracks can be downloaded from their Mikseri.net site. Highly recommended, especially if you have a car to speed into the night….

The Old Dead Tree - “Dive” mp3
Think Anathema, Opeth and older Katatonia - check, check, check.
The Black Dahlia Murder - “What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse” mp3
What a horrible, malicious time for BDM to release a new album…

French Carte Postale’s netlabel Tripostal offers a nice selection of electronic and instrumental music that at the same time offer sonic comfort for a bad day (bad life?) and also some serious independent musicianship and detailed composing. And as the netlabel principals go, all releases are free to download.
The Oslo Deadtrash Project - “Across The Ocean” mp3
Un Atomne A Lob-Nor - “Birds” mp3
Hmm… Check out Lob-Nor (rip) mp3’s at their website. French know their post-rock, I say.

Through The Eyes Of The Dead - “Failure In The Flesh” mp3
There are differences in a death growl. Through The Eys Of The Dead’s debut album (Bloodlust, 2005) left me nauseous, because vocalist Gunnels multi-layered shrieks just watered down everything that was on the record.
Now the band returns, but in a different form. New frontman Nate Johnsson owns such a great growl, that it is hard not to love it. He’s not just screaming, he’s truly delivering the hatred that is written in the lyrics.
On Malice TTEOTD also shows how months on the tour do good for your band: in every possible way, the band is now tighter than anyone would have believed.
Give them another chance, if you have any lust left for modern American death metal.

We Are Soldiers We Have Guns - “Songs That No One Will Hear” mp3
We Are Soldiers We Have Guns -”Damn Those TV Shows, Damn Them Straight To Hell” mp3
There’s something equally essential in the song title as is in the song itself: these might well be the songs no one will hear, but those nobodies that do, appreciate them with love. Un-party music you listen to in an un-hurry day.
We Are Soldiers We Have Guns and more lovely music can be found at Stereo Test Kit Records’ site. For example, I honestly don’t know why I still haven’t bought any Boy Omega albums, even if I well in love with their earlier mp3s quite a many moons ago already.

Goldenhorse - “Don’t Wake Me Up” mp3
Don’t wake me up from the 70’s? Well whatever, you’ve got to love her voice. More about Goldenhorse at Chromewaves.
Travis Morrison Hellfighters - “As We Proceed” mp3
Much better than the name suggests.
