Luuvippi palaa hetken tauon jälkeen, joka on ollut seurausta lähinnä siitä, etten ole ennättänyt potkia tarpeeksi tahoja, jotka ovat minulle vitosensa vipata. Ja nettipersoonani letkuruokintakausi jatkuu, sillä juuri viikonloppuna selvisi, että koneeni ei käynnisty, koska siitä on pamahtanut emolevy. Sen vaihto tarkoittaa monen muun asian vaihtoa ja ne kaikki yhdessä tarkoittaa paljon rahaa.

Mutta asiaan: Luuvitosen Vipin on koonnut tällä kertaa akustista ja klassista kitaraa As The Poets Affirm -yhtyeessä soittava Gary Udle. ATPA:sta olen kirjoittanut aiemminkin: kaunista, tummansävyisiä tunnelmia, kerroksittain ladottuna. Garyn vitonen sisältää ensikuulemalta jokseenkin hankalia biisejä, ainakin minulle, koska en ole tottunut näin jatsahtaviin säveliin kuten Burton Greenen avaus. Toisaalta, Jay Munly & The Lee Lewis Harlotsin päätösbiisi räjäyttää potin jo yksinkertaisemmallekin poppi-idiootille.

An emotional gamut from pleasant to not so pleasant with the rise and decline of technology right smack dab in the middle.

“Burton Greene is my personal unsung hero. He’s pretty much done it all and is still producing. Sadly though his work can almost impossible to find. The reason I chose this track was because of the build that starts at around 1:15. Torngat are three unbelievably talented musicians based out of Montreal who compose some of the most heart warming songs I’ve ever heard. If you’re ever feeling blue put on their album La Rouge and everything else will just melt away. My favourite moment on Alberta Song is the beautiful Wurlitzer break at around 1:34. Chicago Underground: The beauty of sound. Again, another group that is all over the map in a good way. It’s my understanding that in a pinch, if you don’t know what to pick, you can never go wrong with Thrill Jockey. Wax Mannequin has an awesome voice and he’s another artist that can do anything really and do it well. New Flies is on here because it’s one of those songs that is just so good that I wish I had written it. Especially the intro. So good. A few years back I saw Jay Munly & The Lee Lewis Harlots from Denver on a Monday night along with maybe 20 other people in the club and it still stands as the greatest show I’ve ever seen in my life. I was completely and utterly gripped the entire night. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and it wrenched open my eyes as to the strength of acoustic instruments.”
