T.D. Reisert - Alahee album

T.D. Reisert - “Threshing” mp3

“For fans of night and desert air, this is yours”, states 80H on their latest release, T.D. Reisert’s nine-track album Alahee. And that’s exactly what it is: you can feel the lonely desert breeze on the background of Tim’s songs, as well as the sensation of timeless, the lovely no need to run approach. Download here.

In my opinion, Tim’s music need to be listened at night time when things are quiet around you. I included a song from his previous release on one of my few mixtape posts I wrote last summer, titled “2 AM on summer night”. In that atmosphere this music works perfectly.

It’s now been some ten days since last time I listened to Alahee album, and at this moment, I couldn’t hear it even if I’d put it on. I’m moving to a new flat tomorrow and we’ve been packing things this whole week and in this busy and full of stress state I prefer listening to nothing.

Did you know moving flats can be compared to facing a personal end of the world? Judging by the amount of stupid things I own, I’m a good western world citizen. You know the deal. Anyway, this means there will be no new posts for some time now. I don’t know when I’ll be getting my computer back online, or when I’ll find the time to search something to post about. Hopefully soon. Wish me strength.

Quick notes

New song “Emptyness” (really?) from Finnish Dead In The Water at their myspace. They have the dirt and all the time in the world.

Nicke Andersson and his friends’ old school death metal band Deathbreath have posted a minute long raw mix of a song “Heading for Decapitation” to their myspace. If you don’t smile while listening to it for the first time, it propably ain’t your cup of blood. Anyway, I did smile as much as possible while making weird noises like “bluaaargh”, such a treat the song is.

Raised Fist - “Sound of the Republic” video

Raised Fist - “Sound of the Republic” video high/ low

At last, the video for Raised Fist’s new album’s title track, “Sound of the Republic” is online. As a video it’s nothing much, but as a presentative of the new album, together with the previously released “You Ignore Them All” track on myspace, it speaks volumes.

“This is the sound of the Raised Fist republic!” Fear not, if you think Raised Fist’s new material does not sounds as aggressive as Dedication or Ignoring the Guidelines did. The album is a killer, believe me, best album I’ve heard this year. There are fast songs - just wait until you hear “Hertz Island Escapades” - and there are heavier song, like this title cut. Even “Time Will Let You Go, All Alone, I Break” with a re-recorded version fits perfectly on the album. If compared to Dedication, the new album is much more emotional - musically and lyrically. And that doesn’t mean slower songs or anything, the feeling just is there.

Finnish readers should get the next issue of Inferno magazine on their hands. It have a two-page Raised Fist story, written by yours truly.

Niko Skorpio - Escape From Heaven album

Niko Skorpio - Escape From Heaven album stream

Some Place Else will be releasing Niko Skorpio’s new album Escape From Heaven in April. Experimental soundscapes, noise, I don’t know - I’d like to know.

Anyway, check out the album stream from Last.fm. Also, four of the new tracks are available at myspace. Escepecially the title track caught my attention, which hardly is any news, since it’s sampling perhaps the greatest introduction to a song, Slayer’s “Hell Awaits” (not the Save your heart/ backwards -part, but the first lower E string riffs).

Luuvitosen Vippi #12 - Sten Ove Toft, Ryfylke

ripNorwegian experimental sound duo Ryfylke’s latest album arrived to my mailbox and left me soon wondering what it actually was telling me. I enjoyed the atmosphere Ryfylke was creating, but for the task of reviewing it, I had to email Sten Ove Toft and ask few things about their views on approaching the concept of music. Finnish readers can check that review at Noise.fi.

Anyway, as the ice was broke, I thought it’d be great to learn more about the musical tastes of Toft and asked him to make me a five-song mp3 mixtape. So, if you are interested in finding out about new (?) music from the more experimental end of Scandinavian artists, please check these mp3s.

Theme Toft selected to go with was The Comfort in Blood.

02: Jon Eriksen - “3′24″” mp3

AI AI! This swedish bloke really knows how to push the limits. It is quite difficult to get more extreme than this.

03: Jazkamer - “The Worms Will Get In (Edit)” mp3

Evil track taken from their new album Metal Music Machine.

04: Noxagt - “Cupid Shot Me” mp3

A full-on testosterone bastard this one. You just want to drink beer in an impressive tempo when you hear it.

Fuck yeah.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones album stream

You can stream the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ album at myspace. Previous Fever To Tell was definite mood lightener (with “Maps”, one of the most beautiful indie songs this side of the new millenium), I hope this album would be of the same nature. Spring time needs its music.

Boys Of Scandinavia - “Good Looking (Regina remix)” mp3

“Good Looking” is one of the many hits Boys Of Scandinavia have on their Kill The Party debut album, released late last Autumn.
