First Finnish band ever to record with Steve Albini. And that’s not even their selling point. Fun’s second album Zu-pa! works best when played start to finnish and several times, preferably loud. Noise is rock!
Vomitory - “Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize” mp3
You don’t need to be a scientist to realize this is pure death fucking metal. This is the title track of the new Vomitory album, so get a picture what rest of the material sounds like.
Grayceon - “Love Is” demo mp3
Grayceon - “Into The Deep” demo mp3
Both these tracks clock over 12 minutes mark, so I have a good reason to believe you have at least a vague idea what Grayceon sounds like. Just add little metal here and there and - applauses - cello. They are yet to master their art, but they sure are interesting new band to know about. Debut album was just released by Vendlus.
Armour - “Lick the blade” mp3
Armour - “Heavy Metal Drinkers” mp3
If you have always, not claimed, but believed that WASP stands for “we are Satan’s people”, I have a new band for you: Armour.
This Finnish band have many experienced underground musicians in the line-up, but as Armour they’re just starting to conquer the world. Their music is straight from the 80’s, no-buts heavy rock with heavy leanings towards WASP, Accept and alike.
I just bought their debut demo/EP The Sonichouse Tapes (ring a bell?) and it’s quality throughout. So far the recording have reportedly sold some 700 copies (plus 200 promotional copies sent out). The recording for released earlier this year, so it’s really an amazing achievement.
This week the band was announced a winner of Alphard Sound Battle 07 which gained them an endorsement deal and a management deal.
Listen and kneel - there’s simple no other way.
Magyar Posse - “Whirpool of Terror and Tension” video @YouTube
Music video directors Lauri Warsta and Jouni Karttunen (Las Palmas) won the Golden Muuvi award for the best Finnish music video of the year 2006. Video in question is Magyar Posse’s “Whirlpool of Terror and Tension”. Great honoour for the film makers, but also for Finnish post rock.
